When you LOVE SOMEONE you LOVE ALL OF THEM

It is a concept often overlooked and definitely underrated. I'm slightly embarrassed to say that it was brought back to my attention by a mediocre romantic comedy named "Valentine's Day", but I've paraphrased part of a scene here to make my point.

'In a relationship you have to accept the other person for all of who they are and not just the parts that are easy to like. When you love someone, you love all of them. Not just the good parts but the less great ones too.'

My husband is usually the one often reminding me to look at the good in people, seeing them for who they strive to be, not just who they are. Its a toughie in practice, but one worth practicing. I've found myself really struggling lately with some traits and characteristics in those I love. [Eesh can you imagine what its like when I'm struggling with someone I don't necessarily like!] These anecdotes remind me to love those around me even when I'm frustrated, grated or I don't feel loved by them.

If that doesn't work for you, remember this, if we are all made in the image of Christ, than Jesus is in each of us. How can I stand there and hate someone who is a reflection of Christ, no matter if they act like it or not.

Everyone needs a little mercy and a little grace for their actions. If Christ can keep forgiving and loving me each day, how can I not forgive and love those who seem to fail me at times.

Love,
Kat
